How we research airport facilities

A useful facility answer needs more than a mention on a website. It needs the right terminal, security side, access conditions and a source that supports the claim.

Start with primary sources

Research begins with the airport’s official facility pages and maps. A named facility operator, an appropriate public authority or direct written airport confirmation can resolve details. Traveller reports help identify changes, but do not automatically establish current policy.

Record what the evidence actually says

Each record separates availability from the quality of its evidence. A source may establish that a facility exists while leaving its exact location, hours or eligibility unclear. An airport homepage alone is a starting point, not evidence for every facility.

  • Grade A: a specific primary source supports the claim.
  • Grade B: primary evidence exists, but important practical details remain unclear.
  • Grade C: secondary sources support a lead without sufficient primary confirmation.
  • Grade D: a research lead with insufficient supporting evidence.

Review before publication

Publication requires a specific source, confirmed availability, terminal and security-side context, practical location details and relevant access restrictions. Hours, costs and facility-specific questions must be addressed without guessing. A named editor must approve the record.

A confidence grade is not publication approval. All supplied airport-facility records currently remain in research, including those with stronger evidence.

Handle gaps and changes openly

If sources disagree, the claim stays uncertain while the current official page, map or operator is checked. Missing data is never converted into a negative answer. A source-check date describes that check; it is not a promise that a facility is open today.

The documented review targets are 90 days for smoking, showers and luggage storage, and 180 days for water, prayer rooms and accessibility. These are review targets, not claims that an active monitoring service is already in place. Credible corrections should trigger an earlier check.
